Vixen Angela Simmons and Taina Williams have sparked a new movement. The hip-hop models went online this week to push a new My Black Is Beautiful challenge promoting self-beauty and encouraging other African American women to join.

Angela x Taina

Over the past few hours, both Angela and Taina have lit up their social media pages with heartfelt posts. They used their beauty to flex black girl magic and also tagged friends to keep the movement going.

“I accept the challenge. We are BLACK WOMEN… We build… We don’t tear down other BLACK WOMEN… We have felt the pain of being torn down and we have decided we will be deliberate about building others! If I don’t tag you don’t be offended. I tried to pick people I thought we do this challenge. All too often we women find it easier to criticize each other other than building each other up. With all the negativity going around let’s do something positive! Upload one picture of yourself… Only you. Then tag sisters to do the same. Let’s build ourselves up, instead of tearing ourselves down. Copy and paste. ❤️” -Angela Simmons’ Instagram

Before You Go

In late May 2020, rap star T.I. went online and told people to mark July 7 on their calendars to support Blackout Day. The King of the South said this day would ultimately allow people’s money hurt companies’ pockets and show it’s time for blacks to stop getting negatively targeted.

“Nobody spend SH*T on this day‼️IF you Give AF about the murders, lynchings,& oppression of people of color!!! #USorELSE✊?#BlackoutDay2020 #July7th” -T.I.’s Instagram
