New York rapper Bobby Shmurda is going to be a free man soon. His prison release date is set for Feb. 23, and after six years of incarceration, the platinum-selling MC has plans for his life after lockup.
Bobby Shmurda Will Return To Rap
Bobby Shmurda will be on parole after he’s released from prison on Feb. 23, but he’s aiming to get right to work. Bobby’s mother told TMZ that her son plans to dedicate himself to making music.
“After dinner, we’re told Bobby — who’s been locked up since 2014 — wants to keep it chill. Nothing crazy. He wants to get back to his passion, which of course is music. Leslie tells us he’ll devote most, if not all, of his time to creating music again.” (TMZ)

In 2014, Bobby Shmurda — just 20 years old at the time — dropped the smash hit single “Hot N*gga,” which went certified platinum and reached No. 1 on the Billboard hip-hop/R&B charts. Later that same year, he was arrested and charged with a long list of felonies related to his gang affiliation. Bobby has been in prison ever since.

At a parole hearing in 2020, Shmurda testified that he’s a changed man and that he’s become a leader instead of a follower while serving his time. The parole board, however, cited the trouble Shmurda has gotten into since he’s been locked up; including the time he got caught with a weapon behind bars, fighting and drug possession.
Young Thug and Quavo’s Bobby Shmurda Support
In August 2020, Atlanta rap star Young Thug hit up his Instagram page to show his support for both Bobby and fellow hip-hop artist Rowdy Rebel. The heartfelt shout-out inspired Migos’ Quavo to also promise the rap artists could look forward to a collaboration from him upon their release.
