Rapper To Get More Time Than Rioters For Using Images Of The Riot On His Album Cover
The Justice Department wants Virginia rapper Bugzie the Don to face 21 months in prison for being one of 725 people identified and arrested for the Trump capitol riots.
Initially, the Department of Justice offered Bugzie a plea agreement for a misdemeanor charge but the rapper made concessions they could not approve.
On the day of the capitol storming, the rapper entered the building but is not recorded to have participated in any illegal activity. The charges stem from him violating the terms of his parole by being in the wrong place at the wrong time — Bugzie was on probation with prior felony convictions for possession, robbery, and possession of a firearm by a felon.
According to Time Magazine, of the 725 people arrested for the riot, “only around one-tenth of those arrested—71 individuals—have received criminal sentences, while the rest are waiting for their trials or haven’t yet reached plea agreements.”
The longest jail sentence thus far was given to Robert Scott Palmer, who is serving 63 months in prison for hurling wooden boards and a fire extinguisher at police officers guarding the Lower West Terrace tunnel.
Bugzie, who has pleaded guilty and will face just under two years in jail for a selfie moment.
