Music producer Jazzy Jeff is speaking out. The hip-hop veteran has come forward to reflect on his headline-generating bout with coronavirus.
Big Facts
This week, DJ Jazzy Jeff’s COVID-19 battle was discussed as he appeared on talk show “Tamron Hall” and addressed his initial struggles with the virus. Jazzy discussed his symptoms and how he felt under the weather in early March following an Idaho skiing event.
“When my wife and I were at the store, I looked at her and told her I didn’t feel well. And she was asking what was wrong, and I said ‘I feel a little achy, like I’m coming down with something.’ I literally went home and got into bed and almost don’t remember the next 11 days after that…When we finally were able to go to the doctor, they wouldn’t test me for COVID-19, they gave me a flu test and then gave me an x-ray on my lungs and said I had pneumonia in both of my lungs, which terrified me to death.” (“Tamron Hall”)
High-Key Details
Jeff also talked about putting together his “Keep Yo A** In Da House” Instagram campaign. The hip-hop hitmaker emphasized the importance of people staying indoors and slowing the spread of COVID-19.
“I had a friend send me a video of a basketball court and it was easily 100 people out there and it literally brought tears to my eyes. And I felt that it’s very important to make people understand how dangerous this is. You don’t realize that you’re getting something and taking it back to your grandmother. So I’m just kind of like listen, if I can play some music and make people dance in their kitchen and not go outside, that’s what I need to do.” (“Tamron Hall”)
Wait, There’s More
A few weeks ago, Jeff assured followers he’s feeling better. DJ also encouraged fans to take care of themselves during the COVID-19 epidemic.
“I’m good! Thank God! I posted yesterday to bring awareness to how serious this is… Please look out for each other.”
Before You Go
In early spring 2020, Jazzy raised eyebrows after sharing his health condition across social media. He hopped on Instagram Monday to encourage people to stay at home and revealed he was dealing with pneumonia.
The producer told fans on Instagram to take the virus seriously – although he did not say if he was tested for COVID-19 – after revealing that he lost his sense of smell and taste, one of the symptoms of the respiratory illness. “Pls say a prayer for all the sick… it’s a lot more than you know!!” Jazzy Jeff wrote. “I’m recovering from pneumonia in both my lungs… I lost my sense of smell and taste which is a main sign of the virus. I would NOT be here if not for my guardian angel of a wife!” (Hip Hop Wired)
