It was clear when Freddie Gibbs and The Alchemist put out Alfredo around the start of the pandemic that they had caught onto something special together, which should have been no surprise because they’d been creating magic on their own for so long. It was a no-brainer.
That album got nominated for the Best Rap Album at the GRAMMY Awards and while it lost out to Nas and Hit-Boy’s King’s Disease, just the nomination felt like an achievement for Hip-Hop in general. Now, just over 5 years later, the pair are back with the sequel.
