JAY-Z Shouts Out Dame Dash
According to Dame, the last time the two spoke was circa 2013. At the time, he said he wished they could’ve “hammered things out” together instead of with lawyers. Despite the bad blood between the former partners, Jay-Z took the opportunity this Saturday to acknowledge former partner, Dame Dash, during his Rock & Roll Hall of Fame speech.
Reasonable Doubt Dispute
The reason the pair don’t speak is a bit convoluted but its part of the beef stems from Dame’s attempt to sell his third of Jay Z’s debut album, Reasonable Doubt. A judge decided that Dame can’t sell what he doesn’t own, so Dame attempted to auction his stake in the project starting at $10 million. Dame also countersued Jay, saying that Jay switched his Reasonable Doubt streaming rights from Roc-A-Fella to his own LLC without permission.
The Aaliyah Factor
Rumors have suggested that the breakup between Hov and Dame could have been due to competition for the late R&B songstress, Aaliyah. Dame previously dished on how Hov wanted to make Aaliyah his bae, saying that Jay “tried very hard.”
