Philadelphia rapper Lil Uzi Vert is doing much more than living up to the hype these days. The hip-hop star has come through on his promise to fans of dropping new music before the weekend.
Lil Uzi Vert Drops New Sasuke Banger
On Friday, Uzi Vert blessed hip-hop fans with his must-hear “Sasuke” anthem. The record is his first official release since putting out his Eternal Atake and its deluxe LUV vs. The World 2 albums.
The track is undoubtedly an ode to Sasuke Uchiha, a polarizing key character in popular anime/manga series Naruto. Throughout his music career, Uzi has continuously shared his love of the series, most famously likening his facial piercings to that of Pain’s (Nagato). Expected to appear on the rumored The Perfect LUV Tape 2, the Outtatown, Brandon Finessin and Oogie Mane produced track sees Lil Uzi Vert liken himself to one of the last surviving members of the Uchiha clan. Most notably Uzi raps “This is not no Naruto, but I chop that like Sasuke,” referencing Sasuke’s cold demeanor and the Sword of Kusanagi, a special chokutō that becomes his personal weapon in the later half of the series. A few days ago, Uzi appeared to tease new tunes. Vert went to his social media pages with a sneak listen to an unreleased record.
In the preview, the track begins with a sinister laugh from Uzi before he goes on to attack the beat. “This is not Siberian, it’s Slavi sweats (Yeah, yeah)/Twenty-seven gang, b*tch, I hope I’m blessed (Yeah, yeah)/Pull up on lil’ stain, I made like 20 checks (Ayy, ayy)/N*ggas ain’t the same, ain’t no goin’ back (Ayy, ayy)/She made me deep d*cker ’cause that girl got like 20 necks (Yeah, yeah)/My n*ggas, they made it from the strap, oh yes (Yeah, yeah), strap, oh yes/My n*ggas was in the jail same day they layin’ on the jet (Yeah)/My n*ggas go where I go, that’s a fact (That’s a fact),” the 2016 XXL Freshman raps on the track.
