Samurai is an album that Lupe Fiasco has been working on for years and years and like other Lupe albums over the years (ROY, The Cool 2, CRS, SKULLS etc.), for a while it seemed it might just end up vaulted and never heard by fans and cancelled entirely.

Tonight though, Lupe finally puts it out. For the uninitiated, the album is inspired by Amy Winehouse and specifically a conversation she had with Salaam Remi where she said she was writing battle raps like a samurai. It was part of a documentary of hers years ago and inspired Lupe to make this. Like his last album DRILL MUSIC IN ZION, this one is also produced entirely by his longtime friend and collaborator Soundtrakk.
