Megan Thee Stallion Goes Medieval

Megan Thee Stallion is taking it to the next level with visuals to her hot new single “Sweetest Pie” featuring English singer Dua Lipa. The Houston hottie hit us with an unexpected collab we can appreciate, although the medieval-themed video was different from her previous visuals – she made sure to add her own style to it. In one scene, Megan popped out wearing a baby blue bodysuit with matching thigh-high boots covered in pearls, with a blond updo hairstyle strutting like the queen that she is.  It’s only right that Thee Stallion hit us with a dance break in the video too.  Can we say vibes!

Latto Pop’s It Like A “Wheelie”

Looks like Latto made up for the backlash she received earlier this week, and yes we forgive you. The southern belle’s new single “Wheelie” featuring 21-Savage is clearly a bop.

The music video takes us to the streets with decked out rides, flashy motorcycles, and of course Big Latto surprised us all as she showed out her choreography with big energy.  She did that!

Shenseea’s Debut Album,  Nicki Minaj Talks The Black Female Influence

Although she’s a superstar in her home country, Jamaica,  Shenseea took the Hip-Hop scene by storm with her American debut, “Lick” with Megan Thee Stallion.  Now the dance hall artist will show us what she’s all about. The drop of her new debut album Alpha will feature artists such as Megan Thee Stallion, Offset, Sean Paul, and more.

The island gyal took to Twitter to announce her number 1 album in Reggae category and fans are loving the album already!

And we can’t forget the lil sistas making moves as we honor women’s history month.   Beats4love, a philanthropic campaign developed by BeatStars, has partnered up with the nonprofit organization  “Girls Make Beats” to make sure our girls are behind the boards. Did you know that a 2021 study found that only 2% of music producers are female?  Props to BeatStars for helping to change that narrative.

Nicki Minaj is brand new for 2022 and she is holding back no mo.  During a recent interview with Joe Budden, the superstar shined the light on black women’s influence within the music industry. She also touched on the culture and the lack of credit black women received.  She said:

They want us to STFU and not speak on what we do so they don’t have to put us on covers and give us Grammys. There’s nothing wrong with owning our influence. When we don’t mention it we get erased. If you don’t let a black woman say how she influenced, somebody else will get the credit and they will continue showing no regards to black women for what we do for this culture.

Preach sista, we feel you.

Meta Ensuring Black Creators Stay Winning

And finally, data analyst Alexis Michelle Adjei and Instagram engineer Cameryn Boyd are doing the Lord’s work. The duo, who work at Meta (formerly Facebook), are ensuring black influence, creativity, and power are no longer overlooked. The phenomenal pair have created a special tag for black creators and influencers on Meta’s platform that ensures we get credit and profits for setting trends and putting in the work.  Now that’s why representation matters.
