Houston rapper Travis Scott and Kid Cudi are gearing up to take over the entire 2020. First, the hip-hop pair have come through with an unexpected and much-needed new “The Scotts” record.
Travis Scott and Kid Cudi Live Up To Fortnite Expectations
Last night, Scott and Cudder blew fans away with the must-hear record. The song landed online just before it premiered on video game giant Fortnite with three different versions.
Travis Scott and Kid Cudi have dropped a new song called “THE SCOTTS.” The track premiered prior to its release in the online, multi-player video game Fortnite. Kid Cudi returned earlier this month, sharing “Leader of the Delinquents,” his first new single since 2016. Last month, Travis Scott hopped on NAV and Gunna’s new Wheezy-produced track “Turks.” Prior to that, Scott dropped a Quincy Jones–starring music video for “OUT WEST,” his recent cut with Young Thug. Major Production Credits
The massive hit record is much more than Scott and Kid rapping over a standard instrumental. The hip-hop pair recruited major producers including Cudi’s longtime collaborator Dot Da Genius.
“The Scotts” isn’t the duos first collaboration, but it’s easily the one that arrived with the most fanfare. Hours before its release, the track was teased during Scott’s chaotic takeover of Fortnite. Produced by Take A Daytrip, Dot Da Genius, and Plain Pat with co-production from Travis and Mike Dean, “The Scotts” feels like a symbolic passing of the torch. Instead of Travis paying homage to a Cudi song of yore (e.g. 2016’s “Through The Late Night”), the equation is flipped: Here, Cudi follows in his disciple’s sonic steps. (Rolling Stone)
Wait, There’s More
Social media has erupted with massive co-signs. Twitter went off throughout Friday with tons of support for the record.
Before You Go
Speculation has already developed about more anthems to come. There’s reports claiming Cudi and Travis are low-key working on even more music together.
However, it looks like the Scotts have some more surprises up their sleeves. Fans noted that the new track is labeled under the collaborative artist name on Apple Music. Furthermore, yesterday Travis tuned into Instagram Live with Cudi and teased another collaborative track. The snippet distinctly featured vocals from both rappers, to which Cudi knowingly responded, “This our favorite joint, right?” (HIGHSNOBIETY)
