Trina + Eve’s VERZUZ Lived Up To Hype

While most VERZUZ battles have celebrated two artists’ careers with them in-person, this edition had a unique twist. Trina held things down at her Miami hometown’s club LIV while Eve did her broadcast from London.

Things promptly kicked off at 8 PM ET with ample hype and deejays getting the fans into the mood. There was plenty of love being shown to each other with dancing, laughing and non-stop reminders of just how much time they’ve both put into the rap game’s evolution. The first round featured Trina’s “Da Baddest B*tch” while Eve delivered her hard-hitting, Swizz Beatz-produced “Tambourine” banger. As the night heated up, Trina served up everything from “Bad B*tch” remix, “Pull Over,” “Single Again,” “One Minute Man,” “B R Right,” “Always” and “Here We Go” while Eve made things extra tough with her “Let Me Blow Your Mind,” “You Got Me,” “Hot Boys (Remix)” and Ruff Ryders classic “Scenario 2000.”

Things turned out to be lop-sided as Eve continued to pull out endless hits mostly from her Ruff Ryders days and music she put out as a solo artist. However, toward the end of the battle the face-off practically ended with rounds resulting in ties based off equal hits.

While Eve appeared to win the majority of the early rounds, the latter face-offs really came down to practical ties. Trina’s “F*ck Boy” and “Right There” remix were just as epic as Eve’s “Satisfaction” and “Gotta Man” classics.

The Hype Before The VERZUZ

Heading into the unforgettable night, both Trina and Eve relied on their social media pages to hype up the event. Eve made sure to let people know when to tune into the bout.

“IT’S TONIGHT YA’LL!!! @verzuztv with me and my girl @trinarockstarr . It’s time to celebrate ? Tune in tonight 5pm PT / 8pm ET / 1am BST @triller @vibesontbs @fitetv #verzuz”

The Diamond Princess recently posted a glam shot on Instagram with a caption which might have been more than meets the eye. “Nothing REAL can be threatened” could be Trina’s pre-VERZUZ jab at Eve, who has been accused of using ghostwriters — most notably on her 2000 hit “Got It All” featuring Jadakiss. Trina was once accused by longtime rival Khia of using ghostwriters, a claim she vehemently denied.

VERZUZ Announces June Lineup

Recently, the team at VERZUZ made a couple big announcements. Two of the rap game’s most popular female MC’s have now officially faced off, while two chart-topping rivals have been confirmed for a long-rumored VERZUZ battle. On June 26, it’ll be Soulja Boy and Bow Wow.

“Let’s get this SUMMER started!! ????” (VERZUZ)

After weeks of rumors, it’s been confirmed by VERZUZ former child stars Bow Wow and Soulja Boy will face off. The rappers/reality TV stars have been taking social media shots at each other for a while, although it’s mostly been in the name of fun and games.

“Please get this clear! Soulja is my brotha for life. We will never in life beef. This is fun and games. I see fans like awww man here they go…. that’s my dawg and that’s why we can bag on each other the way we do. You guys have nothing to worry about.” (Bow Wow)

Swizz Beatz Checked Timbaland For VERZUZ Sneak Tactic

Big-time producer Swizz Beatz doesn’t hold back when it comes to rap battles. The hip-hop star spoke up when a Justin Timberlake track played during his recent VERZUZ rematch battle with fellow producer Timbaland.

“Until you can get Justin Timberlake on VERZUZ, I don’t really wanna hear those vocals,” he said with a laugh after his competitor played Jay-Z’s 2013 Grammy-winning song “Holy Grail,” which Timberlake is featured on.”
