The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are keeping busy in the United States. Despite the global coronavirus pandemic still active, Meghan Markle and Prince Harry linked up this week for their first charity outing since this past winter’s lockdown.

According to reports, they both volunteered at a back-to-school charity event in California. The royal pair wore face masks, handed out supplies, clothes and more at a drive-through organized by Los Angeles charity Baby2Baby.

Pictures show the couple handing supplies in through the windows of vehicles at Dr Owen Lloyd Knox Elementary School in South LA on Wednesday. The couple cut casual figures, with Meghan sporting loose khaki shorts with a white shirt and trainers, and Harry going for a similar look plus a baseball cap. (Daily Mail UK)

Footage from the epic outing has scattered across the Internet.

High-Key Details

This week, buzz developed about Markle and Harry securing a home together in California. The dream home reportedly came with a price tag well over $14 million.

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have moved into a new home in Montecito—a lush community in Santa Barbara, California. The new purchase also represents another milestone for the couple: The first significant step in their journey to financial independence from the royal family. Even though the home reportedly cost $14.65 million, Harry and Meghan refused to use the royal family’s money to buy it. (Marie Claire)

Wait, There’s More

Despite the speculation, Harry and Markle reportedly did not ask their family for a massive loan.

“Harry could’ve asked [Prince] Charles to contribute toward the cost of the house, but he chose not to,” a source exclusively reveals to Us Weekly. “Getting his dad financially involved would result in the royals having control over him. It would mean going backwards.” While Harry, 35, and Meghan, 39 “paid out of their own pockets [and] have taken out a huge mortgage,” the Duke of Sussex is “loving being independent and sees it as an opportunity to grow.” (Us Magazine)

Before You Go

This week, both Harry and Markle spoke to young leaders from the Queen’s Commonwealth Trust to discuss the digital future and putting efforts to help end online negativity.

“I love that fact that you’re all so well connected as well. That’s why this platform was created — to bind you guys together. To use that thinking, that awareness, that self awareness that you guys have to be able to make the world a better place,” Harry said. “I say ‘you’ — I want to include us, but I already feel as I’m way too old…” (People)
