Georgia residents aren’t wasting any time with shelter in place restrictions loosening up. New footage has surfaced of folks coming together at an Atlanta mall to purchase a pair of new Air Jordan sneakers.

According to reports, the massive crowds gathered this past Saturday. The new sneaker sold out online and sparked a ton of people forming lines at a local mall.

Shoppers packed close to form lines that wrapped outside Greenbriar Mall on Saturday to get their hands on the new Air Jordan 5 “Fire Red” sneakers, news station 11Alive reported. Video posted to social media showed people waiting to get into the mall and then again outside the shoe store Jimmy Jazz. (New York Post)

Footage also surfaced from the Saturday mall frenzy. Clips show residents lined up outside of a Jimmy Jazz apparel store moments before it opened.

Wait, There’s More

Heading into this past Sunday, Georgia has nearly 30,000 confirmed COVID-19 cases since the state went into its initial lockdown. Over 1,100 people have died to date in the Peach State.

As of 8:30 p.m. on Saturday, there had been 28,330 confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Georgia since the outbreak began and 1,175 deaths. Fulton County leads the state in known cases with 2,928 and, with 122 deaths, trails only Dougherty County in southwest Georgia in fatalities tied to the virus. (11 Alive)
