ARN: What is your legal name and age?
K-Town Kid: Legal name is Shanbaz Hussain, 29 years old.

ARN: How did you come up with a stage name?
K-Town Kid: I Came up with the name as ‘K-town Kid’ to represent my city Kolkata.

ARN: Do you remember the first rhyme you wrote?
K-Town Kid: Yes, the first rhyme I wrote was back in school for a Christmas event which went like “he was more than ordinary born in a stable, stuck to his mum like gum under the table, he lay on the hay cause he had no fancy cradle, this is a story of the legend this ain`t not fable”.

ARN: Have you heard the theory that some musicians write their best music while they’re depressed or going through a bad time?
K-Town Kid: Yes, as infant I experienced it first hand. I was really taken back with my career as a audio video DJ. I was one of the youngest from the country to learn audio video doing and turntables, but I always had to request my way to be noticed, its still the same, where people have the back of the artists who they are familiar with, but as you can see I ain`t stopping the hustle, they’ll notice soon.

ARN: How do you go about marketing?
K-Town Kid: I am really bad when it comes to marketing, so I send requests to my friends to share my work.

ARN: What’s the best advice you ever received?
K-Town Kid: “Don`t ask for it make them beg you for it”, its my advice to self though.

ARN: Do you have a mantra?
K-Town Kid: Yes, I have a simple mantra, “if you have it in you do it, if not – don’t force the issue, life is too short; accept the failure and move on”.

ARN: What’s your latest release?
K-Town Kid: My latest release was called “2Pac in 20” – a tribute to 2Pac on his death anniversary.

ARN: How do you currently feel about the state of Hip-hop in general?
K-Town Kid: Hip-hop is not the Hip-hop it used to be and my latest release emphasizes that, which is why I wanted to bring 2Pac to life for a day.
