D’Ante Kareem Adkins, also known as Turn Up Tobi, is a motivated up and coming music producer/professional musician hailing from New Jersey. Music has always played a prominent and defining role in his upbringing. His grandmother Janella Adkins was a jazz singer in her day, so the creative gene was already in his DNA early on. His other grandmother Margaret John-Baptist was the one who introduced him to the world of dancing and the West Indian music culture.
D’Ante also accredits fellow New Jersey producer and CEO of MPOWER RECORDS, Misael Sanchez, as another person who played a pivotal role in inspiring him to create music. He started producing more efficiently and gained a better overall understanding of the music business through the mentorship.
D’Ante scored his first placement on Leah Jenea‘s 2020 album, Crooked Love Story, where he produced multiple songs, including the first track Fed Up. He also got a track with Matrell called Up Down, set to drop on January 2nd on all streaming platforms.
The young producer describes his sound as a blend of classical gospel and heavy hip-hop but refuses to box himself into a category. He feels his style would be categorized better as global since it resonates with any audience, no matter the genre.
